Obituary of Margaret Ann Miller

Margaret (Margie) Hegarty Miller, 90, passed away March 1, 2025. She was born December 14, 1934 in Indianapolis to the late Edward and Mary Agnes (Lavell) Hegarty.She attended St. Joan of Arc Grade School, St. Agnes Academy High School and St. Vincent School of Nursing where she made lifelong friends that she stayed in contact with throughout her life. She had many nursing positions throughout her career and retired from Butler University as the Assistant Director of Student Health.


Margie was a member of St. Christopher Parish since 1966 and volunteered in the food pantry, the annual festival and as a Eucharistic Minister. She played golf at IMS Women’s League and at Eagle Creek. Also, an avid bridge player participating in many groups. She was active in PEO Sisterhood and helped numerous women pursue their higher education goals.


On August 20, 1960 Margie married James (Jim) Miller and was sadly widowed in 1974. One of her greatest accomplishments was raising their children, Colleen and Gus. In addition to her husband Margie was preceded in death by her parents and dear siblings Edward (Red) Hegarty, Aggie Lux, Rita O’Connor, Rosie Adamson and Nancy Condon.


She is survived by her children Colleen Miller-Owen (John Pielet) and Gustaveous (Martha) Miller. Granddaughters Caitlin (Kyle) Wiese, Mary Owen, Emma (Evan) Lowery and Corinne Miller; loving sister Maureen Schulz Elliott and numerous nieces, nephews and great friends.

On Friday, April 25, 2025 there will be a visitation for Margie at 9:30am at St. Christopher Catholic Church 5301 W. 16 th Street followed by Mass at 11am and then burial service at Calvary Cemetery.
