Obituary of Joni D. Stanfield
Joni D. (Akers) Stanfield, 66, of Monrovia passed away on February 20, 2025. She was born in Indianapolis, IN to Raymond and Delores (Huddleton) Akers on June 24, 1958. Joni worked for Toys Я Us for 27 years, MCX Eltoro in California for 2 years and Wilsons Bakery on W. 16th Street in Indianapolis for 4 years. She spent 20 years traveling around the United States and Okinawa Japan with her Marine husband, Frank and their four daughters. Joni had been fighting cancer for the past five years. Her final days were spent at home with her family at her side until the end. She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend to so many. Joni was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Delores Akers. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Frank Stanfield; daughters, Katrina Westerfield (husband Rex) of Monrovia, IN, Crisstii Cross (husband Adam) of Plainfield, IN, Charlene (Danielle) Richey (husband Travis) of Franklin, IN and Keri Bear (husband Randy) of Plainfield, IN; grandsons, Cody and Frank Westerfield of Monrovia, IN, Collin Myers of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina (USMC) and Trevor Bear of Plainfield, IN; granddaughters, Angelina Myers of Mooresville, IN, Ashlynne Cross and Kylah Bear of Plainfield, IN; great granddaughter, Madelyn Henry of Mooresville, IN; and her sister, Kim Wilson of Danville, IN. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers or plants, memorial contributions in honor of Joni be made to Lung Cancer,Toys for Tots or Morgan County Humane Society. In Honor of Joni, a Thanksgiving dinner will be held for family and friends on March 15, 2025 at 1pm at the Slovenian National Home 2717 West 10th Street Indianapolis, IN 46222. No formal funeral or prayer services have been scheduled.
