Obituary of Esther C Ferraro

Esther Canalas Ferraro, 90, of Indianapolis passed away on March 18, 2024. Esther was born in Indianapolis to Anton and Mary (Gabrovec) Canalas in April of 1933. Esther was a graduate of Washington High School. Her career spanned over 47 years as an accountant working for St. Vincent Hospital. Esther was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Indianapolis, IN.

Esther loved to travel and enjoyed international adventures with her husband and friends over the years.  She was admired by family for her independent, classy spirit especially demonstrated in her stylish wardrobe and cars.  Baking for family and neighbors was a passion and she loved to be challenged by new recipes.  Her meticulous mind for numbers was honed daily with word and math puzzles including crossword puzzles and Sudoku.  This gave her an edge slipping in zingers and subtle jokes when lovingly teasing her husband and family.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 28 years, Anthony Ferraro; brothers Bruno and Robert; sisters Irena and Clara. She is survived by her stepdaughter Patricia; stepson Mark; and many nieces and nephews.
