Obituary of Mary Rochelle "Chelley" Dutton

Chelley unexpectedly passed away on July 2, 2020, due to complications from cancer that was discovered only days before her passing. She had recently celebrated her 72nd birthday. Chelley was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on June 20, 1948, attended the First Baptist Church, and graduated from Crawfordsville High School. Her fondest childhood memories were playing outdoors, caring for an array of pets on their farm, and learning to sew and make crafts - a hobby she continued her entire life, creating countless exquisite crafts, sewing projects, and quilts. Her handmade gifts are priceless treasures. She worked as a police dispatcher with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, alongside her brother and husband who served as officers in the field, serving her community by providing critical aid in times of need, until retiring. After retirement, she excelled in courses at Christian Theological Seminary and deepened her biblical knowledge, traveled to the Holy Lands to experience where the events of the Bible took place, continued her creative endeavors, and moved to Georgia. She cherished spending time with her family, spoiling her cats, and attending Center Hill Baptist Church. Chelley loved her family and was always there for them. She gave so much and asked for so little in return. They will treasure her memory every single day. Chelley was preceded in death by her husband Bob and parents Ralph and Madge. Survived by her daughters: Michelle and Suzanna (Wendell); her fur boys: Pitter and Patter; granddaughters: Kaitlyn, Miranda, and Taylor; great-granddaughter Viviene; sister Dety; brother Malcolm (Geneva); along with her nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins. Her private memorial service was Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at her final resting place of West Ridge Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in her honor may be sent to her church Center Hill Baptist Church, 6372 Ga Highway 20 SW, Loganville, GA 30052-3026, or to your favorite charity. Please include her name, so they know where to send the acknowledgement.
