Obituary of Shirley A. Garrison

Shirley A. Garrison, 70, of Indianapolis passed away on July 11, 2016. Shirley was born in San Francisco, CA on January 21, 1946 to Albert and Helen Cookson. Shirley and her twin sister, Patricia were the youngest of Albert and Helen's five children. She graduated from Balboa High School in 1964. She married William D. Garrison on November 28, 1970. They had one daughter, Sharon, born in 1980. They moved to Indianapolis in 1994. Shirley had an Associate Degree in Accounting from the College of San Mateo; she worked as a bookkeeper for Chilton Floors of Redwood City, CA; Accountemps; and the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, among other places, and she retired in 2010. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Cookson and nephew Kevin Cookson. She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, William Garrison; daughter, Sharon (Scott) Roberts; twin sister, Patricia Cookson; brother, Albert (Carol) Cookson; sister, Carol Hill; nieces, Susan Jones, Leah Kechriotis, Anthea Kechriotis; nephews, David Hill, James Hill, Andrew Hill, Skipper Cookson, Timmy Cookson, Mitchell Garrison, Eric Garrison; uncle, William Gussman; brother-in-law, Michael Kechriotis; sister-in-law, Verna Kechriotis. Shirley enjoyed cross stitching and was very good at it; she cross stitched a blanket and framed several of her favorite pieces. She was a member of the Laughing Squares Square Dancing Club.
