Obituary of Daniel W. Morgan

Daniel Wesley Morgan, 86, of Indianapolis passed away on May 18, 2016. He was born in Seymour, IN to Arthur W. and Grace (Huls) Morgan on July 12, 1929. Daniel was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Family was everything to Daniel. He loved and enjoyed large family gatherings. He was a big dreamer and always planning how he was going to share his lottery winnings with his entire family. Daniel served in US Marine Corps from 1948-1952 and was proud of his military service. Every year he looked forward to working at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He worked hard and earned the Gold Badge Safety Patrolman and handled the Borg Warner Trophy. Daniel is in several Winner’s Circle photos. He mentioned several times in the last few weeks how he would miss this year’s event. Daniel enjoyed fishing, wood working and reading westerns. His interests included baseball and the New York Yankees, Pacer Basketball and IRL Racing, an avid fan of AJ Foyt. Daniel retired from Furrow Building Materials and previously worked at Kessler Schaefer Auto Auction, Ellis Trucking, Motor Freight Trucking, Anderson Trucking, Holland Trucking and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Daniel is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arthur W. Morgan, Jr.; sister, Dorothy Morgan; sister-in-law Jane Morgan; brother-in-law, Bob Garriott; and his loving wife of 61 years who passed before him in 2015, Mrs. Betty (Meiring) Morgan. He is survived by son, Dennis Morgan; daughters, Theresa Brydon, Roxanna (Kenneth) Horton, Vanessa Kestler, Jenifer (Mark) Koehler, Angelia (Steve) Herring and Sharon Morgan; sister, Roberta Garriott; 13 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson.
