Obituary of Monta Jean Payne

Monta Jean Payne, 89, of Indianapolis passed away May 9, 2015. She was born July 6, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN to George Edmund and Bessie Irene (Spencer) Kemp. Monta Jean was a career homemaker and co-owner of Payne and Son’s Painting and Drywall Co., for over forty years. She was the ultimate “Caregiver”, always extending her love, kind, caring support and love to all. A true blessing that touched many lives. Monta Jean was a young accomplished athlete and was a world class roller skater with the 1950 World Champion New Jersey Jolters. She was joined by her husband Carl Payne, on the 1950 World Champion Team. Monta Jean and husband, Carl, are members of the roller derby “Hall of Fame”. Monta Jean will be loved and missed by all, but her loving memories will live on forever. Monta Jean was preceded in death by her parents, George Edmund and Bessie Irene (Spencer) Kemp; loving husband of 50 years, Carl Payne; brothers, Jimmy Kemp and George “Buddy” Kemp Jr. and sister, Georgeanna “Noni” Kemp. She is survived by her sons, Randy Payne, Kerry (Angie) Payne and Ric (Madonna) Payne; grandchildren, Jill Walker, Payton Payne, Kennedy Payne, Kale Payne, Matt Thompson, Taylor Ryan and Zach Ryan; great grandchildren, Payne, Riley and Hunt Walker and nieces, Melody (Rudy) Dotlich, Cindy (David) Athey and nephew, George (Connie) Kemp III. A private graveside service will be held. The family would like to extend a special recognition of thanks to Darlene White for her loving care and dedication to Monta Jean as well as the staff of Manor Care and Changes Home Care for their utmost professional and personal care of Monta Jean.
