Obituary of Jerry Bunton

Jerry "Jet" C. Bunton, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the age of 66. He was born December 11, 1941 in St. Louis, MO and graduated from La Porte High School in 1960. He served as a U.S. Army Sergeant from 1963-1965. He worked for AM General Corp. for 21 years, American Trans Air Airlines (ATA), Covance, and most recently, O'Reilly Auto Parts. His passion for 19 years was umpiring baseball. CYO, IHSAA and all age groups of Little League. One of his greatest accomplishments was umpiring in the first ever Big League Girls World Series for that age group of Little League. Jerry's other hobbies included playing golf and grilling for church and school functions as well as almost every week at home. He was an avid lover of sports, especially the Chicago Bears, Cubs and White Sox, along with the Indianapolis Colts. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Kintz) Bunton; three daughters, Laurie (Bunton) Helmick, Coni and Carolyn Bunton; one son, Jeff; five grandchildren, Kyle and Bradley Bunton, Zachary and Lauren Helmick, and Shanna Kidd; and three great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Allison and Ayla Kidd. He is also survived by four brothers; "Bunky", "Mick", Jack and Tom Bunton. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family, relatives and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3354 W 30th St, Indpls, IN 46222, with calling from 11:30 - 2 pm and a Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Entombment following the Mass will take place in the Field of Valor section at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either St. Michael Catholic Church or Cardinal Ritter High School. Funeral arrangements were handled by Stevens Mortuary.
