Ivan "John" Sercer 96, of Speedway, passed away November 2, 2009. He was born June 12, 1913. John worked for the Bryant Heating & Cooling manufacturing plant for 27 years, retiring in 1977. He then went on to work at St. Christopher Catholic Church for 25 years, where he was a member. John was also a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Slovenian National Home, KSKJ and Avi Maria. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Sercer and his dear friend, Violet Ladavac. He is survived by his son, John (Fran) Sercer; daughter, Annie (Jerald) Urick, Mary (Don) Shepherd and Yolonda (Richard) Young; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 6 at St. Christopher Church, 5301 W 16th St, at 11:00 am, with visitation there beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the church. Arrangements were entrusted to Stevens Mortuary & Family Center.
