Obituary of Joseph Jerome Quinn

Joseph J. Quinn 

Indianapolis- Joseph J. Quinn , 89, Estero, Florida, passed peacefully on April,7, 2018 in Indianapolis.  Joe was born on February 23, 1929 in Indianapolis Indiana to the late Howard E. and Cecile Copper Quinn. He married Lena V. Satterfield Quinn on May 10, 1947. He was a second generation member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, a 70 year member. He served as the Business Rep and President of IATSE Local 30 for 15 years. He was the stage carpenter for outdoor productions for Starlight Musicals. He also was a stage employee at many of downtown movie houses. He worked with the PA Announcer at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 20 years.  He concluded his working career as Stage Manager of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra retiring in 1993 after 30 years.

He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3682 for 38 years. He was a proud Irish Catholic and practiced his faith to the end. He grew up in the Catholic Parish of St. Patrick on the Indianapolis Southside. He was also a parishioner of St. Michaels Catholic Church where his 7 children attended the grade school, Ritter HS and Brebeuf Jesuit. Upon retirement he became a member of Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in Estero, Florida.

Some of his favorite hobbies included travel, boating, golf, fishing, enjoying summers in his home on beautiful Lake Lemon, and just playing cards with his buddies in Estero, Florida. He was known for his great storytelling ability and his never ending jokes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and 4 sisters, Forest, Quentin, Father Howard Xavier Quinn, Sister Patricia Louise, Kay Fackler, Teresa Naville and Carole Bates. His one surviving sister Bernadine Wampler (Louis) lives in Fishers, Indiana.

Other survivors include his sons, Quentin (Marilyn), Daniel, Thomas (Bekki) , Carl (Lisa) and his daughters Patricia Cirillo (Joseph) and Mary Ann McColl (Brad).  His son Joseph J. Quinn Jr. died in 1984.  

His grandchildren include Jeff Quinn, Chris Quinn, Jenny Garrett, Erica Spencer, Carrie Parks, Elizabeth Bazarko, Cassi Spetnagel, Carli Quinn, Bradley McColl, Caylan Quinn, MaKenzie Quinn, Daniel Quinn, Katie Marks, Kyle Quinn, McKenzie Witherell, Karla Miller, Lori Schmidt and Joseph J. Quinn III. Great grandchildren include Conner Quinn, Alex Quinn, Michael Garrett, Lucy Garrett, Jeb Garrett,  Isaac Matlock, Colton Miller, Sawyer Miller, Remington Miller and Windham Miller. There are also several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, April 13, 2018, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Stevens Mortuary. The Rosary will begin at 7:30pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marks Catholic Church, 535 E. Edgewood Ave. 46227. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
