Obituary of Colleen Frances Theofanis

Colleen F Theofanis, was called home by her heavenly father on January 20th, 2018.

She was born September 18, 1931 in Indianapolis to Edward and Eileen Junker. Colleen attended St Mary’s grade school and graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1949.

Shortly after graduating, she was introduced to a young man named George Theofanis.  Within a year, they were married and remained together until George’s passing in 2011. Colleen had many passions, but first and foremost was her love of the Lord.  Her servant heart lead her to volunteer at various food pantries and kitchens in the Indianapolis area. She had deep compassion for the less fortunate and found it an honor to serve the hungry and the hopeless. She found great joy and savored each and every moment with her beloved grandchildren whom she called her “angels”.   In her spare time, she could found “playing in the dirt” which was her term for manicuring her beautiful flower gardens.

Welcoming Colleen to heaven are her husband, George; her mother and father; her brother, John Junker and her sister Patty Belec; her son, Gus and her daughter Sophie.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Beatty (husband, Frank); son, Tony Theofanis (wife, Mary); son-in-law, William Carmichael; grandchildren, Allison Tann (husband, David); Morgan Beatty; Gus and Grace Theofanis, Megan Carmichael and great-grand daughter, Olivia Tann.

Finally, the family would like to thank the staff at the Robin Run Memory Care Unit for their tender and dedicated care they provided Colleen for the past 3 years.

St Christopher’s Church, Speedway, IN, will host Monday, January 29, 2018, visitation at 10am, Mass at 11am and immediately afterwards, a joyful celebration of Colleen’s life.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Vincent De Paul to honor Colleen’s giving spirit.
