Obituary of Angela J. Meyer

After a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, Angela “Angie” Jane Meyer returned to her heavenly Father on January 1, 2017 at the age of 51. Angie was born on May 9, 1965 in Jasper, Indiana, to William M. Hopf and Mary Ann “Nancy” Hopf. She grew up in a large, caring family with four sisters and three brothers. In 1987, she graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She received a master’s degree in counseling from Indiana-Purdue University Indianapolis in 1995. For the past twelve years, Angie served as a dedicated Associate Director at the IU Kelley School of Business Career Planning Office in Indianapolis, Indiana. Prior to that, she served as a recruiter for Business Management Personnel. Angie was passionate about helping individuals through career planning and advice. She was known for her great work ethic mixed with positivity, grace and a people-centered focus. Throughout her battle with cancer, she continued to serve students. Angie led a faithful life as a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. A devoted Catholic, Angie was known for her contagious and sunny smile along with her generous and joyful attitude. Angie was always determined to put others before herself. Angie was a loving mother and wife who raised strong, faithful and warmhearted children. She could often be found at Cardinal Ritter Football and Cross Country events supporting her children. As an enthusiastic IU basketball and football fan, she enjoyed attending tailgates and games. She also enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She found peace in observing sunsets on the beach. Angie is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Kenneth Omer; her son, Nathan William; daughter, Kendall Marie; her father, William (Bill); stepmother, Kathy; and seven brothers and sisters: Kathy (Ed) Uebelhor of Schnellville, IN; Mike (Kim) Hopf of Jeffersonville, IN; Karen (Gary) Riley of Louisville, KY; Brian (Christine) Hopf of Santa Claus, IN; Mary (Dave) Schmidt of Carmel, IN; Lisa (Jim) Nordhoff of Carmel, IN; Jay (Anne) Hopf of Brownsburg, IN.
